Work is work
Things are slowly trickling in again. First, I had a short tour come my way. I mean short, just under a week. Unfortunately I was getting a bit of a run around as far as some details. They kept pushing the salary, you know trying to get it down. My issue was travel to the first so and then home. The tour was not willing to cover much of it, if at all. The daily per diem numbers were never actually confirmed, even though they said they existed. They just kept mention, oh it's an easy run.
In the meantime I get a phone call from an old friend who runs a production company near me. He owns sound, lighting, back line and staging. His company has been hired to do a music festival starting this weekend. I was offered a job as a lighting director for one of the stages. It was a no brainer. Four days of music. Two less days of work for more money.
Late today I hear that I am up for a position for a tour that begins in about 10 days. It was offered to someone else but that person may not be able to do it. So yours truly is next in line.
It's not a ton of work but it will cover the bills this month and if the tour pans out I will be good for several months plus.
The big thing, for the time being I will not have to dip into savings and money that I have put away.
I need to update sooner
I posted yesterday about
Five For Fighting and new music. If you are regular reader of this blog you know that I have worked with John and FFF since 2002 as the lighting director for live tour concert dates. Hopefully I will be back on board this time around.
The new single was made available on iTunes today. It is called Chances. The new CD is entitled "Slice" and will be available October 20, 2009.
Just wanted to pass that info along.
Back to sending out resumes.
Time continues
I decided to check the blog today and noticed I haven't posted in a couple months. It's not from being busy, nope I just haven't bothered to post since nothing has changed.
I continue to have nothing pan out as far as touring. It looked like I might be on a tour this summer but like everything else I got bumped out due to money. This time the artist decided not to bring a lighting director since they are supporting on a shed tour. Most nights it will still be daylight when they perform.
This fall was looking like a possible Five For Fighting tour. The new single is going to be available this week with the full CD coming out in Oct.. John will beginning promoting later this summer but probably won't tour with a full band until next year. There might be some shows during the December holiday season but nothing confirmed yet.
So I continue to contact people I know in the business letting them know my services are available.
Unfortunately in this economy I may have to move on to something else.
