St Louis.........

The World Series ended last night in St Louis with the Cardinals winning. I will say I was a bit disappointed. I’m a Pirates fan. Ok I know the Bucs haven’t made the playoffs since the early 90’s. However, Jim Leyland their old manager is now the manager of the Tigers and his staff is all former Pittsburgh player and coaches. Thus the reason for my disappointment with the outcome.

Well last night’s show was in St Louis and just before the encore John came out on stage to announce the score. It was also decided to lower the video screen they have in front of the stage to watch the final out, to the delight of the audience of course.

Once the game was over the band finished the set with the telecast still playing.

I have to say that was a first in my 20+ years in the business.

We have a day off today and a show in Kansas City tomorrow. We are staying in St Louis and will be attending the Blues hockey game tonight against the Red Wings. Should be interesting with another Detroit team in town. We have our own private suite to watch the game from.

The perks of the road.

Oh Canada!!

We made it into Canada with little problems.

New York was long and tiring but things went very well. Two TV shows and a concert in 36 hours which included a 4:30am load-in at Fox TV.

Tonight's show in Montreal was one of the best yet. A nice venue and great crowd. A big thank you to the entire staff at Club Soda for making it a smooth day.

On to Toronto for a show on Monday and then back to the states for a show in Buffalo. Looking foward to eating some buffalo wings from the Anchor Bar.

Not much else to mention. Things have been routine but we are having a good time.

NYC.....you're oh so pretty

Yes I'm quoting one of John's songs.

The weather is nice and warm.

We are now in NY and begin two days of long stressful, no sleep hours. Today there a couple of "tv" type shows. These are not too bad since the whole band is only doing one of them, which we tape this afternoon.

Now tomorrow is a whole other story. Along with our regular show at Irving Plaza tomorrow night. We have to be in the city at 4:30am......yes that is right 4:30AM!! We are doing another tv show. Fox News which aires at 8:45am. So if you are in the tri-state area make sure to tune in.

Spinal Tap moment

The last couple of days have been hectic but good. We have played a couple of nice venue's and to the best crowds of the tour so far.

Philadelphia was rockin. The crowd was great for both acts.

Washington DC and the best small venue in America. The 930 Club since they moved into their current location has it together. Very good production, professional in house crews and good eats.

Now the Spinal Tap moment. During the last song of the encore, John likes to climb onto his piano. Well tonight he jumped onto the piano bench and lost his balance. Sort of like the drummer in the movie when he fell off the drum thone.

John falling was not funny and fortunately he was not badly hurt. He has a bit of a carpet burn on his arm. He just missed hitting his head on the piano and was lucky. We held our breath for a second and he jumped right back up. I was looking down at the lighting console when he fell and didn't see him hit but I heard it.

Hopefully we will not have another incident like that.

Tomorrow is a day off which we are spending in Virginia just outside D.C. It's then on to Boston, NYC and then Canada.

If you are planning to come to any of the upcoming shows. NY, San Diego, LA, and Kansas City have all sold out in advance, so you may need to travel.

I'm off to sleep.........

Heaven and Hell

No this is not about Black Sabbath. It is about the difference between a good venue and a bad venue.

We played in Nashville the other night at a place called the Mercy Lounge. Yes we are playing a few small clubs on this tour. First off the crowd was great and very enthusiastic.

Many clubs have there faults. We didn't expect it to be great. What you do expect is some professionalism from the house crew. NOT at this place. These guys could barely blow their noses and chew gum without screwing up. Staying sober would be a help also.

Last night we were in Birmingham, AL and what a difference. Very good equipment as far as the sound and lights. Now it wasn't perfect, but the thing was the house crew were total professionals. This is a place I would recommend going to see a show. Small enough without a bad seat in the house. Great views of the stage from two levels.

We continue to log the miles. We are on our way to Philadelphia. We stopped in Roanoke, VA so the driver could sleep. This gave us a chance to get into a hotel and grab some real rest, do some laundry and other things.

It's cold in the city

Still in Chicago and dam did it get cold here. After last nights (tuesday) show, we spent a day off in the windy city. Started off with it raining most of the morning and then a nice cold front passed through.

Now the reason for my weather report is we checked out of our hotel, well most of the rooms. Thus spending the day on the bus. Why get wet when you don't have to. Actually we did have a great lunch and I finally saw Jackass 2. I'm still laughing.

Our internet is back up on the bus. Not cable speed but it's better than dial up. So we are able to stay on top of the emails and such.

We are off to Nashville and then Birmingham, AL before we head north for dates in the Northeast.

The band is starting to really gel and the show's sound great. Make sure if you are coming to any of the shows through Washington, DC, get there early and check out the opener Gary Jules. You won't regret it.

I will be putting up some pictures on here in the next day or so........

Until then....I'm out

The road is long.....

Especially when you don't have internet access.

We are two shows down. Things are going well so far. The band sound great. I finally have a moment to send this as I sit in this hotel room waiting to leave.

We are suppose to have internet access on the bus but the wireless router is not working. Hopefully it will be fixed by tomorrow.

Not much of anything unusual to report. We are travelling to Urbana, IL for a show tomorrow.

I will try post a bit more in a day or so.

the shortest distance between two points is....

I'm off to Minneapolis tomorrow to start the tour. We are all suppose to arrive early evening. Hopefully I will make my connection. I've been booked on Delta and my connection is in Atlanta.

This wouldn't be too unusual except for the fact I'm flying out of Rochester, NY. That's right I get to fly south and then all the way back north. It's just a few extra hours on a plane.

First show is Thursday. I will try to update as much as I can.
