Christmas???!!??
I looked at the calendar today and it does say September 27....ok..check. So why are many of the stores putting up Christmas items already??? Is it me or does this happen earlier and earlier each year.
So things are still slow around here, professionally and personally. I'm really starting to go crazy. I'm in such a rut. Maybe I'm having a mid life crisis....wait I have to be too young for that.
Shit maybe I'll start decorating for the holidays......................
Wet weekend
Well it was one wet weekend. After dealing with the rain on Friday while at home. I jumped on plane on Saturday morning and headed to Boston. Let's just say it was pouring when we landed.
So I arrive at the hotel quite early, around 9:45am. Since I had been up since 5:30am, I decided to crash for a bit.
I wake around 11:30 and our tour manager calls. Let's do some lunch before we head to the venue. He proceeds to tell me our guitar tech is stuck in NYC. His flight won't be leaving there until 3:30 at the earliest. Well our set time that evening is 6:10pm. He's not going to make it. So we decide to have me watch the stage instead of running lights. I'm disappointed to say the least. It's only a 20 minute set and I talk the LD from the production through some of the cues. Turns out he is running lights for most of the bands anyway. The show is at the Fleet Center. It is for the Mix radio station.

So the set goes pretty well. John's vocal mic at his piano stops working toward the end of a song. Other than that it was fine. We did the show without a soundcheck. The crowd was really good, singing along and all.
We decided to stick around and watch all the bands. Los Lonely Boys played right after us. Then Maroon 5, then Alannis, then John Mayer and then Lenny Kravitz closed the show. I missed most of Mayers set. We took guitars back to the hotel . Then we walked back to catch Lenny. I have to say his showed rocked. He had three horn players and three back up singers. So in all he had 10 people in his band. His engineer had a good mix. It got it bit loud half way through, of course that's what ear plugs are for. His lighting guy, Bryan is the same guy who does lights for Kiss and TSO. He also designed the show for Ozzfest this year.
So anyway John mentioned that the new video for Devil In the Wishing Well is going out to the media outlets this week. Look for it on a music channel near you.
There are some more dates in October. I will probably be doing those if nothing else comes up before then.
So it's back to my boring life for now.
I forgot
Anyone who knows me and reads this. I finally cut off my hair. Yep it's been past my shoulders for nearly 20+ years. I decided about a year ago that I was going to cut it. Nothing like a long decision.
rain.........rain.........rain.....
Well it's been raining here all day. This is not really even from Ivan. That storm is south of here. Anyway it looks like most everyone I know in Alabama is ok. I haven't heard from anyone in Louisiana, but I think they are all ok.
So I have to fly to Boston in the morning. Five For Fighting will be playing a radio show tomorrow at the Fleet Center. Alanis Morissette, John Mayer , Lenny Kravitz , Los Lonely Boys, Maroon5 and The Calling are also playing. Really short set for most of the bands. Plus we are on very early. Hopefully it will be a good day.
Ivan
So it looks like Ivan is going to hit near Mobile, AL. I have many friends in that part of the country. Especially New Orleans and central Alabama. Too them if you read this. If you are riding it out. Be safe. Hopefully everyone in the storms path will be ok.

This place is amazing. I took this photo back in June
News Update
So it seems the situation with the stabbing at John's house last month has been solved. At least it wasn't someone coming after him.
Musician's Caretaker Arrested in Stabbing
LOS ANGELES - The wife of a man stabbed more than a dozen times at the home of Five for Fighting's John Ondrasik has been arrested along with her boyfriend in connection with the attack.
Alba Canton, 34, and Eduardo Garcia, 39, were arrested Monday. Garcia was booked for investigation of attempted murder and jailed on $500,000 bail; Canton was booked for investigation of being an accessory to attempted murder and held on $250,000 bail, authorities said.
Ondrasik was not at his San Fernando Valley home July 28 when the stabbing occurred.
Alba Canton was working as a part-time caretaker at the musician's Encino residence when her husband, 44-year-old Carlos Canton, dropped by unexpectedly to take her to dinner, police said in a statement Tuesday.
A man came out of a bedroom closet and attacked him, police said. Carlos Canton, critically wounded in the attack, has since recovered.
Investigators later learned Alba Canton, who waited two hours before calling police, was having an affair with a security guard who matched the description of the attacker, police said.
Ondrasik, whose one-man band is named for the number of minutes a hockey player gets in the penalty box for fighting, had a hit with 2000's "Superman (It's Not Easy)," which became an anthem of survival after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
